Bella motions two fingers
from her eyes to me to let me know she’s watching me. It almost makes me snort-laugh.
Watch me, bitch. Watch me all you want. Now that I’m looking right at her, I realize she
reminds me of a girl back home who always acted like she was better than everyone else. I feel
myself grimacing. She’s a rich girl who thinks she can have whatever she wants. I start to

I face forward in my seat and

I’ve got you,” I whisper, leaning toward him.
“Really? You are solid gold.

Book Nerd Kate’s Review: ☕☕☕☕☕
Chiletz has a way of drawing you into her stories and captivating you with her flawed and complicated characters. Strings is no exception. This story kept me guessing and had a way of pulling me in to the story. I couldn’t put it down. I love stories with complex characters and accidental/unlikely attraction and this checked off those boxes. Strings was angsty and a bit emotional but also incorporated a bit of humor as well. The storyline was thought out and well written. Chiletz is quickly becoming a must read author of mine.

Sweet On You by K.C. Enders // Review

Book Nerd Kate’s Review:☕☕☕☕

Put a sexy mountain man in NYC next to a neighbor who is constantly setting off the fire alarm with her baking and what do you get? Frustration that turns into cute banter, amazing chemistry, and a love of baked goods. Raleigh is unwillingly working/staying in NYC, which is the last place he wants to be. He misses home and his kid, and his neighbor, Lyla, is annoying. He quickly begins to realize that it’s Lyla who makes him feel the most at home. Their initial interactions are rocky but quickly both of them realize that they can’t resist each other. Who knew that the key to a grumpy mountain man’s heart was a chocolate croissant?

This was the first book I’ve read from the 425 Madison world and I loved it. This was the perfect, sweet, light read. Another great story by K.C. Enders.

Switch Stance by M.E. Carter and Andrea Johnston // *New* Cover Reveal and Review

SwitchStance-AmazonI, Agnes Sylvester, a successful author known as Adeline Snow to the romance community, enjoy the simple things in life: watching the X Games with my childhood friend Todd; taking pictures of interesting buildings; and creating stories based on fantasies about my favorite skateboarder, Spencer Garrison. I’m known for my extreme sports stories, and as long as no one ever figures out he’s my muse, all is well.

But fate has never liked me and now that muse is standing in front of me. Asking me to sign a book.

“Extreme Sports Superstar” is the term the media has used to describe me over the years. I prefer to just be Spencer Garrison, a small-town guy who happens to ride a skateboard for a living and is known for philanthropy.

Nearing retirement, I’m focusing on my non-profit efforts and building a life outside of a professional athlete. My agent won’t let me retire in peace and consequently a talented and kindhearted woman stumbles her way into my life.

Sometimes happy endings aren’t written. They’re lived.

** spoiler alert ** What happens when two of your favorite authors combine two of your favorite series and create a crossover? You fall in love with the book.

Spencer, first seen in Andrea Johnston’s Country Road series meets Author Adeline Snow, who we met in M.E. Carter’s #mynewlife series and it is hilarious, and sweet, and a book nerd’s dream.
I most loved Adeline’s personality, clumsiness, and awkwardness. She was so relatable and sweet. Spencer was exactly the book boyfriend everyone hopes for. I also absolutely loved all of the mentions of book related events and processes such as the writing process as Adeline Snow struggles with writer’s block, the overall feel of going to a book signing, and the moment a reader is able to meet their favorite author. Absolutely loved this book. Bravo to both authors!

Book Nerd Kate’s Review: ☕☕☕☕☕
Deep, Emotional, Beautiful

I went into this book a little nervous because I had the pleasure of reading Yarros’s The Last Letter previously and while it was one of the most amazing books I’ve read, I had a huge book hangover afterwards because it was so heartbreaking.
Great and Precious Things was emotional as well, but in a different way. Parts of it were extremely deep and there were many lessons to be learned throughout the story. Yarros has such a way with making her characters come to life. Her story and characters both had so many layers and such depth that once I picked up the book I could not put it down.
Camden appears to be the black sheep of the family but as the story goes on we learn just how amazing of a person he really is and how he would do anything for the people he loves. I loved this story, I loved the characters, and I just want to read it all over again for the first time.
This story checks off so many boxes: Dual POV, Military Romance, Small Town Romance, Slow Burn, Childhood friends to lovers. If you enjoy any of these, you need to read this book!

Great and Precious Things is a heart-wrenching story about family, betrayal, and ultimately how far
we’re willing to go on behalf of those who need us most.

This is the third book in the Gamer Boy Series. I enjoyed it more than I did the first two (although I did enjoy those too). Link is a relatable realistic book boyfriend. There were definitely some ups and downs throughout the story and it was not just a HEA where everything went perfectly with their relationship from the start. But… that is one of the reasons I loved this book. It was a bit of a slow burn, which I tend to love and there were some funny parts as well. Overall I really enjoyed this read and I didn’t want to put it down.

“You ready to meet my people?” I ask.

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” he shrugs.

Yay, he seems really into this. Wonderful.

I grab his hand and lead him to the back room. When we enter, I notice that the table I just vacated is deep in conversation. As we walk to the table, I can’t shake the feeling of being watched. But no one at the table even notices us yet. As we approach, I hear them talking about the publishing house courting Dex about a book deal.

“Hey guys.” I get their attention. Morgan and Gia have big smiles on their faces. Dex and Simon on the other hand are assessing the newcomer.

“This is Mason,” I go around the table and introduce him. Before I’m done with introductions, Bernie pops in between the guys and introduces herself too.

“So, you’re the sports guy,” Dex says, assessing.

Mason laughs it off, “I am. You’re one of the video gamers, I take it?”

“Sure am.” Dex still doesn’t ease his slightly scrutinizing demeanor. They make small talk for a bit. The girls trying to lead the conversation away from the tension the guys are throwing out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m flattered. I suspect this is exactly how my own brother would act right now. But while they are just meeting him, Mason and I aren’t new. I’ve been dating him for a while. It’s not like I don’t know him.

Simon excuses himself to get some refills for the table and as soon as they return, Link appears at the table. He doesn’t sit though, he stands. I could swear he’s puffing out his chest.

“I’m Link. You are?” he shoves his hand out for a shake.

Mason slowly takes a drink before making eye contact with him, making Link wait as he lowers his cup to the table, and grasp his hand.

“Mason. Ruby’s boyfriend.”

Link brings his other hand around and slaps Mason’s back, “Ah. Well it’s great to finally meet ya, Mace. I’ve heard almost nothing about you!” They drop each other’s hand at the same time I hear someone beside me snort.

“It’s Mason,” he corrects.

Link just blows him off, pulls over a stool and starts talking his ear off. I mean, I guess this could have gone worse. Amber, who I didn’t notice before, sits next to Link looking bored out of her mind. Dex and Morgan excused themselves to go chat with their parents. And it seems like the rest of the table are enjoying talking to Mason.

“So, do you plan on working for ESPN or SportsCenter some day? Like, is your gig with WTSL just a stepping stone or are happy where you are?” Bernie asks. She’s adept at keeping the conversation going. She’s also got mad interviewing skills.

Mason snaps out a laugh, he looks a bit annoyed with the line of questioning. Which baffles me since he usually loves talking about himself.

“Well, I have what you call a career. A real job. So yes, I have long-term goals,” he replies.

“Excuse me?” Link and Simon say in unison.

“Well, correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you just play video games all day?” he asks.

“Among other things, yes. But I get paid probably three times more doing what I do than you could even imagine. It’s a real fucking job,” Link bites out and damn, he sounds pissed. I’ve never heard him so angry before.

He laughs. Mason actually has the audacity to laugh right in their faces.

I gulp. I’m afraid to look at anyone but Mason right now. It’s clear that our nice, “getting to know the new boyfriend time” is over.

“Right,” he drags out the word. “Well, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree then.”

Link growls and I risk a glance his way. But, I’m not prepared for what I see. He’s not staring down Mason with fire coming out of his ears, ready to attack. No. My throat catches at the sight before me.

I’m absolutely embarrassed. You know when you’re a kid and you do something bad, and instead of your parents saying they are upset with you, they tell you they are disappointed? It makes it so much worse. That’s how I feel right now.

He’s looking at me with disappointment in his eyes. He holds my attention and I start to say something, to try and fix where this conversation just went. But I stop. He gives a quick jerk of his head. He clears his throat and pushes off of the stool.

“Well, I think that’s our cue to leave. See ya around, Mace.” Link looks to his left to where Amber is collecting her phone and purse. Somehow she still manages to look bored. He motions a quick goodbye to the entire table, avoiding my gaze entirely. Then he walks away.

You could cut the tension with a knife when Simon stands and turns on his heel. He stalks towards the table where Morgan and Dex are sitting. Gia shoots me a pleading look as she follows him. Bernie sits stock-still, worry sketched on her face.

I start to speak, but Mason beats me to it.

“Well, that went well. They all seem alright, but I’m not sure I like the cocky asshole.”

STH Big City Dreams - Peach Darker

Without a plan in place and only a hundred dollars to my name, this big city girl born in a small town world headed for the bright lights of city life.

Four years later, I may have more money in my bank account, but somehow I’ve found myself back in another small town trying to build a life. Even though the residents of Fayhill have welcomed me like one of their own, this is only a detour, not a final destination.

Then I met Shane Abbott.

What’s a girl to do when a certain dark-haired dimpled cowboy, who fills out a pair of jeans like it’s his job with a smile that sets my soul on fire, has me considering burning my map?

The bright lights of city life never appealed to me. I like the quiet of small town life, and my hometown of Fayhill fits me to a T.

I never expected to meet Mercy Warner.

Love is the last thing on my mind. These days I work hard and mind my own business. So when a certain honey-haired spitfire blows into town, I take another look.

She may claim small town life isn’t for her, but the way she’s settling in tells me she might be open to the option. Refusing to let this opportunity to pass me by, I take another chance and put my small town heart on the line.

Surely the draw of the big city won’t burn me twice . . .

Handsome Cowboy Square Teaser

Swoon! This small town romance had everything I could ask for in a romance novel. Hot Cowboys, Small Town, A girl with dreams, and some slow burn romance? What more could I want? This appears to be a spin-off of Johnston’s Country Road series and there a few mentions of the town and characters from it. I loved everything about Shane and Mercy’s (Beth) story. Andrea Johnston never disappoints.
