I have always been a reader but my love for reading started to take off when the Harry Potter books started coming out. I grew up with them and would anxiously wait for every book (and then every movie) to be released. I followed the HP book phase up with a lot of books by Lurlene McDaniel. They were amazing (and also super sad), and I would read them one after another. I couldn’t get enough. I THOUGHT that I was a crazy book nerd then…
But then, Twilight happened, and 50 Shades of Grey, and Hunger Games, and eventually in my I found a book by Colleen Hoover on Amazon. Slammed changed the game for me. The book was completely different than anything I had ever read and I continued reading her books as soon as they were available over the last few years. Finally I found her facebook group, Colleen Hoover’s CoHorts and I was introduced to so many new authors (many of them indie authors) through the Fan Friday Giveaways.
My love of reading has only grown more since then, and now I have a bottomless TBR (To Be Read) list. I think always having something to read, is a good problem to have. I have also joined countless reader groups on facebook and follow authors and readers on all social media platforms. Reading has not only given me an escape from the stresses of real life, a source of entertainment, and a way for me use my imagination to picture the characters, places, and stories, but it as also introduced me to some of the most amazing individuals I have ever met. For those of you active in the book community, you understand. You understand the incredible feeling of belonging when at a book signing or conversing with other readers online. Readers are just incredible, loving, and generous people. I’ve met some of my best friends.. all because I opened a book.
I have wanted to start a book blog for almost a year, and I finally decided there was no reason not to give it a try. I look forward to sharing my love of reading with you, discovering new authors and genres that interest me, and getting to know even more wonderful people through this journey!
